I wish they had toys like this when I was a kid. Have you heard of them? I am talking about the Zibits Mini R/C Robots which would definitely be in the running for the coolest and cutest toy awards (if we had such a thing) here on geekscribe.
Though they won’t go on sale at Toys R Us until mid-March, I was able to get my hands on a couple of preview models, and boy are they sweet.
There are a dozen different varieties of ‘bots and each comes with a color coded remote control. Using the remote allows you to either race forward or spin around.
The ‘bots have cute little eyes that light up when you turn them on, and the remote makes a robotic sound when you use it. Though it isn’t supposed to be for kids under eight (8+), I held on to my 17 month old and let her play with it. She was enthralled. Of course, I would never let her play with it unsupervised. It’s a much better gift for my eight year old.
My eight year old loves the robots. She keeps coming up to me as I write this article and asking to play with one of them. I am going to keep one for my desk at work because I am a total kid at heart, and give her one to play with.
At around only ten bucks, these are a great gift for any kid, and while they aren’t very expensive, they seem well put together.
I know that my daughter will get a lot of fun out of the robot, and so will I.
Zitbits require two AAA batteries.
