I just got an iPhone. It’s pretty sweet, and there are tons of apps (short for applications) out there. In fact, there are 70 something thousand of them. So far, there are a few that I really enjoy and use all the time and some that I used once and deleted. Here are some of them:
1) Battery Magic: I bought the retail version after using the free version. This tells you how much battery life you have left, depending upon the different ways you might use the iPhone. For example, for music only you might have 30 hours, but if you are playing a 3D game, only 45 minutes.
2) Amazon Kindle for the iPhone: I found tons of free books through the Kindle. It’s easy to download, and easy to read. Right now, I am reading “The Art of War.” It’s pretty dry. But it was free, so that’s OK.
3) Remote: This app allows you to control your iTunes account with your iPhone! Imagine throwing a party at your place and putting on the tunes. Or, if you watch movies through your computer, you can control it with your phone. Awesome.
4) Oregon Trail: This is a cool game that is well worth the price. My seven year old is playing it right now, and learning while she is doing it. Unfortunately, her three children in the game kept getting carried off by eagles and were never seen from again. Did that really happen? Yikes!
5) Ragdoll Blaster: This is another cool game that is well worth the price (I think it was a buck). There are hundreds of levels and you have to shoot ragdolls at objects to get through each one. It’s a fun game that makes you think.
Some lame Apps:
1) 21000+ Famous Quotes: Really not as intelligent or fun as the title may suggest. There are too many advertisements all over it.
2) Just Light: Um… well, it wins points for truth in advertising, but that’s it. It’s a white screen that you can use if you are in the dark. Ho Hum.

Ha! I actually use Just Light quite a bit. It’s actually very handy.
