Review: TuneFlex Aux With SmartClick

griffin-tuneflex-aux-smartclick-ipod-iphone-car-mount1 I have been driving around with the TuneFlex Aux With SmartClick from Griffin for about five days, and I am impressed. TuneFlex Aux With SmartClick is a typical Griffin product in that it is extremely easy to use, and works great. What sets this model apart from the other TuneFlex is that it has a remote control unit that attaches (with Velcro) to your steering wheel. You can use it to shuffle songs, fast forward, rewind, play and pause your iPod or iPhone, and even cause the screen to light up so you can see what song is playing. Brilliant!

Another features I appreciate is that there is a volume control on the base. Now, no matter how loud or soft I have my iPod when I plug it it, I won’t get my ears blasted when I turn on the car stereo.

My car doesn’t have an Aux-in port. However, the TuneFlex works perfectly with the tape player adapter I already have.

The remote does have to be close to the ipod. Because my cigarette lighter is really low, I have to have my remote attached to the lower right side of my steering wheel. The remote didn’t work properly when I had it in other locations. Not a big deal, for me, however.

The other minor irritation, and this is the same with all car adapters and also stereo adapters I’ve seen, is that you can’t turn off the charger and play music at the same time. Just for once I’d love to find an adapter like this one that you can play while not charging.

Still, these are small issues for me. The TuneFlex Aux With SmartClick from Griffin is an awesome product: well-balanced and chock full of features. It’s well-worth the price.

The TuneFlex Aux With SmartClick works with just about every version of the iPhone and iPod. It comes with the remote, a stereo audio cable to plug into your Aux-in port (or you can plug the tape player adapter if you have it), and 8 dock adapters. It seems like Griffin thought of everything.
