professor_layton_boxartProfessor Layton and the Curious Village is a fun game.  The graphics are pretty cool and the puzzles are entertaining.  The game is about a rich man who has died and put in his will that a certain item has been left in the village.  The person who discovers what the item is and where it is will have won the entire fortune.  You play a pair of young detectives (of a sort — a professor and his assistant)  Gameplay basically involves walking around the village and solving riddles or puzzles using your stylus.  Most of the game is quite fun… however one annoying item is the music which is dull and repetitive.  Unfortunately, I can’t find an option to turn down the music and leave all the other effects going, so I have been playing with the volume button turned down.

Many of the puzzles are too complicated for young children to figure out. So if you get this as a gift for a young one, be prepared to assist.
