Welcome to Part 2 of the Second Annual Geekscribe Gift Guide (2008 version)! Once again, I linked a lot of these items over to Amazon or other sites to make your Christmas shopping even easier. These are presents I think any Geek would love.
4. Movies – The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters: This movie might be the height of all geekiness. It’s a documentary. From IMDB: “In the early 1980s, legendary Billy Mitchell set a Donkey Kong record that stood for almost 25 years. This documentary follows the assault on the record by Steve Wiebe, an earnest teacher from Washington who took up the game while unemployed.” From what I hear, this is an amazing story, and the movie is supposed to be excellent.

3. Kid’s Toys – EyeClops Night Vision Infrared Stealth Goggles: This might be a gift that has only so many different applications. However, it is pretty sweet. You should know that it only allows vision to one eye (your right eye). From Walmart: “Jakks Pacific brings you EyeClops Night Vision. With EyeClops Night Vision Infrared Stealth Goggles, you rule the night. Powered by REAL night vision technology, you can see up to 50 feet in completely dark environments. And invisible infrared illumination means you can see them, but they can’t see you. Take your special missions to the next level with EyeClops Night Vision.” The goggles supposedly fit a child or an adult. You can pick these guys up for less than $70.00.

2. Cool Gadgets – The Goatee Saver: Now, before you skoff, this is actually one of my favorite gadgets this year. My wife got it for me as a prank after she saw me laughing about it. But you know what? It works perfectly. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. Plus, it’s a bargain at $20.00.

1. Awesome Electronic Item – R2D2 Fully Functioning Robot!: This thing responds to over 40 voice commands. It recognizes the names of some of the characters in Star Wars and will react differently depending upon its feelings toward the person or alien. It also can act as a room sentry at night while your geek is sleeping. Oh man, I’m starting to get the shakes. I must be going into a geek coma! Plus, it is a lot cheaper than you might think. It’s on sale for less than $100.00.
