youtubeGeekscribe presents the second annual Geekscribe Gift Guide!

It’s almost Christmas!  Are you ready?  If you haven’t quite finished shopping yet, or have a Geek you know and love but you’re not sure what to get him/ her, why not one or all of these?  They are guaranteed to please! *

10. Books -  YouTube:  An Insider’s Guide To Climbing The Charts by Alan Lastufka and Michael W. Dean.  Sure you posted that video on YouTube, but do you know how to make it go viral?  This book may be the answer to your questions.  It gives step by step instructions on how to get that video noticed by thousands.  If you’re into making movies on YouTube, this also might be a great book, because it tells how to make great movies, and even how to create your own Channel. Price:  $30.00

9.  Movie – Kung Fu Panda on Blu-ray or DVD.  I can’t tell you how much I am enjoying owning this on Blu-ray.  The Blu version does not have the short film “The Secrets of the Furious Five.”  However the short is only about 22 minutes long and it isn’t very good.  Get the Blu version for added clarity.  The standard DVD is excellent, though.  Price $15.00 – $20.00 depending upon the version you get.

8.  Music – iTunes gift card.  Don’t get this on Amazon.  It costs much more than face value, plus shipping and tax!  Rip off.  Instead, go to Target or Fred Meyers or anywhere else these things are sold.  For 25.00, your geek will be able to download at least 20 songs off iTunes.  Maybe more.

tunebuds7.  Music/Phone - TuneBuds mobile Ear buds by Griffin.  I reviewed the Tunebuds a few months ago quite favorably.  Well, my set got washed at least three times (dried each time), and guess what — they still work quite perfectly.  Still, I heard that Griffin had an updated version out so I picked another pair up.  The new set sounds even better than the old pair.  The Tunebuds come with a external mic, and while they are designed to work with iPod and iPhone, they work with my Blackberry (the hangup button doesn’t work on the earphones for the Blackberry – a small price for the quality)

6.  Books / Video Games – Fallout 3 Prima Official Game Guide (Paperback):  This is the official Fallout 3 guide.  It is chock full of goodness and details the entire Fallout 3 World.  This is a must have book for a must have game, and covers all versions.  My one minor quibble is that it doesn’t have an index.  However, for sheer quantity and quality of information, this guide can’t be beat.  It is over 500 pages, as I recall, and has a huge fold out map.  It’s cheap on Amazon at $16.00 or so currently.  I got a copy at Best Buy for $25.00, unfortunately.  Get it on Amazon: Fallout 3: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides)

memorycard5.  General – Memory Cards:  There are many different types of memory out there so this might be a bit tricky to give.  However, it is well worth it.  If you know someone is giving your geek a device such as a digital camera or a digital picture frame, you could double up with them and give one of these.  Look on the box to see what type of memory the device accepts.  Memory is super cheap right now and prices vary generally depending upon the size.  Plus, you can get them anywhere electronics are sold.  The picture to the right is way enlarged.  Don’t worry, memory cards are really small these days for the storage size.

Tomorrow, part 2 of the Second Annual Geekscribe Gift Guide!

*By “guaranteed,” I mean “I hope you still include a gift reciept because I can’t buy your present if your geek doesn’t like it.  You’ve been warned.”
