A buddy sent this to me. He was going to visit the Seattle Aquarium and decided to email them about the possibility of fishing there. He was able to get several replies from the staff there. In case you are wondering, I did not make this exchange up:

Hi there. I plan on visiting your aquarium for the first time in the next few weeks, and I was wondering… do you rent fishing poles and sell bait?

Unfortunately, not.

I see. So, can you recommend a good place for me to pick up bait near your establishment? I want to make sure that I catch a lot of fish while I am there. I hear you have a lot of exotic and interesting fish. Thanks!

Sorry, I don’t know of any establishment on the waterfront that will do that.

OK, So I will need to bring my own bait and fishing pole. What types of fish do people typically catch at the aquarium? Anything bigger than, say, a foot? I only ask because I will need to decide what type of test line I should throw in my suitcase.

What are the chances of catching an octopus there? Will the aquarium staff help me fry it up onsite when I catch it? I suppose after a long season you run out of the more exotic fish.

The Seattle Aquarium is not an establishment for fishing and catching fish. We would love to have you come and see the wonderful exhibits we have that display fish, but you are not allowed to do nothing more than view them.

Ok… I see. So, completely different subject here… do you search attendees?

Not when you come in….

So, you’re sure about this whole “no eating the exhibits” thing? Surely there are a few sickly or just plain ugly fish you wouldn’t mind seeing gone? I wouldn’t care either way as long as they are tasty….

Cal Jr.

Unfortunately, they did not reply.
