Here at Geekscribe, we love random facts and cool stats.  I was looking around the web, and I found a neat site that has listed on it Things That Have Happened In History.  So, I was wondering, what things have happened since one of our Presidential candidates, John McCain, has been alive?  The answer is, a lot. John McCain was born on August 29, 1936.

  • In 1936:
    The Hoover Dam was completed.
    The first edition of Life Magazine came out.
  • In 1937:
    The Golden Gate Bridge was completed.
    The Hindenburg disaster occurred.
  • 1938:
    Oil was discovered in Saudi Arabia.
    Orson Wells caused widespread panic with the famous War of the Worlds radio broadcast.
  • 1939:
    World War 2 Began!
    Heinkel HE 178, the first jet aircraft flew.
  • 1940:
    Woody Woodpecker cartoon first appeared.
  • 1941:
    Mt. Rushmore was finished.
  • 1942:
    The Declaration of the United Nations was signed by 26 allied nations.
    Enrico Fermi set up the first Atomic reactor at Chicago.
