Why Xbox 360 Gets The Red Ring of Death

The news has finally surfaced why so many of the Xbox 360 consoles were getting The Red Ring of Death and it looks like it was because Microsoft was trying to save money by being cheap with their hardware. They all have a specific chipset that was failing by overheating. Bryan Lewis is the Research Vice President and Chief Analyst for Gartner and his investigation has revealed at the Design Automation Conference recently that instead of using an Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) vendor to make the component for the console, Microsoft choose to design it themselves and then have Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing make it.

Now Microsoft has gone back to getting the chipset from an ASIC vendor after having a 33%+ hardware failure rate, many thousands of upset customers, extending the warranty to 2 years, and losing plenty of money. They could have saved themselves the trouble by doing it right the first time, but as anyone who receives their patches that update other patches for Windows knows, that’s not the Microsoft way.

john, you sound really angry about Microsoft. What did Bill ever do to you? If he saw your post he would probably cry himself to sleep every night until you posted an apology to him.

Everyone knows Sony is a souless company that just cares for your money. Bill cares about you, John. He cares about you deeply. He may even have “special” feelings about you, but he will never tell you that, because he cares too much. He doesn’t want your money, John. He’s not like Sony. He just wants to cuddle.

Awww, I love Bill. I’m not really into cuddling, but I am a Grandmaster of Spooning. Bill…call me. :loveit:
