I realize that the customization in Call of Duty 4 is huge, but I’ve hit on five that I really like to play for various reasons. I know that there’s better “tactical” setups and sometimes I change things up a bit, but for the moment here’s the 5 I’m having the most fun playing. After all…it’s about fun right?
RIFLEMAN
Primary: G36c (red dot – digital camouflage)
Secondary: M1911 .45
Perk 1: Bandolier
Perk 2: Sleight of Hand
Perk 3: Extreme Conditioning
Smoke x1/Frag x1
I’ve been using this class on the Ambush map and on a few other maps (like Crash and Strike) for Domination matches. I like the speed from Extreme Conditioning and having a smoke grenade handy for cover or distraction. My favorite part though is using the red dot sight for spotting targets and then having the ability to drop a lot of very accurate lead and reload in a blink of an eye. It’s really just a blast for me to play this one and this far it’s worked out fairly well on those specific maps.
PATHFINDER
Primary: G36c (ACOG scope – digital camouflage)
Secondary: M1014 (red dot)
Perk 1: Frags x3
Perk 2: Overkill
Perk 3: Deep Impact (sometimes Steady Aim)
Stun x1
This is one I really enjoy and have used it on the maps Bog, Crash, Crossfire, District, Pipeline, Strike, and Countdown (swapping out the shotgun for a light machine gun). I’ve found the ACOG to be a pain in the butt for the most part (the patch is coming to PS3 very soon though) but on the G36c it’s quite amazing. The shotgun is just pure lethal fun and having extra frags is a blast. Literally.
INFILTRATOR
Primary: G3 (silencer – woodland camouflage)
Secondary: USP .45 (silencer)
Perk 1: Claymore x2
Perk 2: UAV Jammer
Perk 3: Dead Silence
Smoke x1/Frag x1
Mostly used so far on Bloc and a couple others (woodland maps), this class has been really fun to use getting into the enemy zone and causing general mayhem. I’ve killed many people by using claymores in odd locations and a bunch of snipers either by knife or a bullet to the back of the head. Not the best for straight up warfare, but it’s still enjoyable. I just fell in love with the G3 after trying to get an ACOG scope for some range, only to find the ACOG works better with burst fire, making having the scope pointless (which makes no sense). Who would bother to try for an ACOG for a sniper rifle?
CQB SPECIALIST
Primary: P90 (red dot – desert camouflage)
Secondary: Desert Eagle
Perk 1: Bandolier
Perk 2: Stopping Power
Perk 3: Deep Impact
Flash x1/Frag x1
When I play Backlot, Vacant, and Crossfire I usually opt for this class which just dishes out pain and usually racks up my largest kill numbers. It goes through plenty of ammo (hence the Bandolier perk) but is accurate and seems to put people down hard and fast. Even most walls don’t help someone hide with Deep Impact going. I can always swap to a G36c (red dot) if I need better range, but I’d leave the perks the same.
SCOUT-SNIPER
Primary: R700
Secondary: M14 (red dot)
Perk 1: Claymore x2
Perk 2: Overkill
Perk 3: Iron Lung
Smoke x1/Frag x1
Currently I’ve been using the M14, but I have used a G36c (red dot or silencer) and sometimes a P90 (red-dot) for CQC/sniper combo action. The maps have been Overgrown, Downpour and Countdown. It’s just fun and I do alright on the kills. I get more with a G36c than the M14 though, which is supposedly a very powerful rifle (so the stats show), but it seems to be hard-pressed to drop someone very quickly. I’m also wondering why bother to put an ACOG on it…
I’m really excited for the patch and to find out when and how we’re going to get some new multiplayer maps. They should have had some out by now.

i dont like ur set ups their garbo!!!!!!! first the m14 is a sniper with a red dot and longer clip what more can u ask 4 2 shots to the body 1 shot to the head??? second ur sniper needs stoping power and the m40a1 is 10 x better then the r700. 3rd ur cqb is great exept the it needs steady aim and the p90 needs a silencer. or it couls be replaced with an mp5 silenced but p90s probaly better for its long clip. oh and the m40a1 is beast with an Acog.

Actually an ACOG on a sniper makes it useful at mid range also an closer long range plus it makes heashots very simple

RPD (with Grip), Double Tap/Stopping Power, Steady Aim.
MP5 (Silencer), Three Frag, Double Tap, Steady Aim.
AK47 (No Attachment), Three Frag, Stopping Power, Steady Aim.
M16 (ACOG), Three Frag, Stopping Power, Steady Aim.
M40A3, Claymore, Stopping Power, Steady Aim.
I do love stopping power, because if I’m not killing as fast as I could be, it feels like a waste in a war game. Granted, UAV Jammer and Double Tap have their ups too.
