Alright, this is one of the coolest parts of the game. By creating a Custom Class for Call of Duty 4, you’ll have way more flexibility and options. You get to create 5 different configurations and these are my favorites (thus far).

Getting the Bandolier, Over Kill and Dead Silence perks will probably change these up a bit and I’ll post more in the future.

SPARTAN:
Primary: M4 Carbine (Red Dot)
Secondary: M1911 .45
Perk 1: Claymore x2 or RPG-7 x2
Perk 2: Stopping Power
Perk 3: Deep Impact
Stun x1/Frag x1
Desert Camo

This is my main hitter. I’ve used this setup to the best success on many maps. The combination of perks means I hit real hard and can still punch through most of the cover people have available to them. Sometimes I swap in the M16A1 (Red Dot) if the map is real large.

OVERLORD:
Primary: M249 SAW (Red Dot)
Secondary: M1911 .45
Perk 1: RPG-7 x2
Perk 2: Sleight of Hand
Perk 3: Deep Impact
Stun x1/Frag x1
Desert Camo

Sometimes hanging back a bit and moving up to support the others has been a good tactic for me and this class does that. Usually people run and kill or get killed right off the bat so I use this class to hold down a position while they re-spawn (which is usually close by). The Sleight of Hand perk makes reloading this big gun as fast as loading an assault rifle, meaning I can keep on the heat. Without it, it’s painfully slow. Deep Impact means there is very little area to hide. I tried using the front grip instead of the RPG-7 perk, but not having the Red Dot sight was a harsh trade off for better close up accuracy. Plus RPGs helps me keep those choppers off my boys.

CQB ASSASSIN:
Primary: MP5 (Red Dot)
Secondary: M9 (silencer)
Perk 1: Flash x3
Perk 2: Stopping Power or Juggernaut
Perk 3: Martyrdom or Steady Aim
Flash x3/Frag x1
Standard Camo

I mainly use this class on the maps Pipeline and Vacant. Stopping Power puts some punch into the MP5 shots (or pistol) and Martyrdom means I’ll drop a grenade when I die hopefully getting one or two people in an enclosed area (mainly on the Vacant map). Sometimes I swap the perks before a map with the other ones I listed above for higher health and/or better from the hip shooting respectively.

PHANTOM:
Primary: M4 Carbine (silencer)
Secondary: USP .45 (silencer)
Perk 1: Claymore x2
Perk 2: UAV Jammer
Perk 3: Extreme Conditioning
Smoke x1/Frag x1
Digital Camo

This class lets me get around on various maps without showing up on the enemies radar at all. The Extreme Conditioning lets me move quickly to various locations and flank the enemy when at all possible. The claymores I use in various doorways, stairs and other high-traffic spots to slow people down. I like to use them by setting them around a corner and then hitting the enemy (hopefully getting a kill). If not, then I retreat a bit (or to reload) and people always end up trying to chase me only to go boom. The smoke grenade is good for hiding various movements to a flag or even as a full distraction since people tend to fall for the “where there’s smoke, there’s fire” saying. Try throwing over people’s heads behind them and watch as they put all their attention on it.

LONGBOW:
Primary: M40A3 or M21
Secondary: USP .45 (silencer)
Perk 1: Flash x2 or Claymores x3
Perk 2: UAV Jammer
Perk 3: Iron Lungs
Flash x1/Frag x
Woodland Camo

On many woodland maps, this will be my class although I haven’t used it too much yet. I just didn’t have the understanding that I do now though, so I’ll have to practice (and change for a different rifle eventually). The UAV Jammer keeps me off the radar as much as possible and the Iron Lungs helps me hold on scope a lot longer than normal. The flash grenades make for great distractions to knife or pistol shoot someone who’s too close to battle. I sometimes swap out for claymores to booby trap certain areas, depending on the map.
