This video link on PlayStation 3 backward compatibility was sent to me from Geekscribe writer Avery (who’s been really busy with school) and he said:

Not all XBOX games can be played on 360, they have to have software patches updated to play certain games… probably for similar reasons… but every regular game I’ve played on 360 play and look fine (as I expected them to).

But, seriously though, most players go forward and not back when it comes to playing games, so does it matter?

I only wanted to post that to put this in some context. Avery is an Xbox 360 person and I’m a PS3 person. That rat-bastard Kevin is both. *jealous face* Anyway, the video in question does show horribly distorted graphics and makes the claims that Sony doesn’t care.

I’ll just add that I’ve had mine since March 2007 (60GB version) and I’ve played about 25 older titles on my PS3. There was only one that looked funny and that’s because now there is an option I have to set for screen size (wide screen). When I do that, I also have to engage a smoothing option. Once that’s done though…that old PS2 game really looks great.

I’ve also never had one yet that won’t run. My two cents is that this video is just PS3 hater propaganda. See for yourself though:
