So, I got the packing box five days after my initial call to Microsoft. You know the box: white with clear plastic tape and a mailing label; nothing inside except some packing material and a single sheet of instructions. Instructions on how to package your Xbox 360 for shipping to McAllen, Texas.

McAllen, Texas: home to 126,400 people and perhaps a million dead Xbox 360’s. Soon to be the temporary residence of MY Xbox 360.

I’m going to miss that little guy. We have had a lot of fun together.

On Saturday morning, just a little more than one week after my initial freezes began, I boxed my Xbox 360 and took it to UPS.

The dude that took my XBOX was very nice. He knew exactly why I was there when I walked in. “We get at least one of those a day,” he said, “sometimes more.”

I gave him the box. He gave me something in return: a sticker with a tracking number on it. The dude and said I could view the progress of my package on their handy website.

Apparently, my naked boxed Xbox weighs 8.350 pounds.

After a short ceremony, which consisted of me turning my back on my Xbox 360 and walking out the door, I got in my car and drove home. My Xbox is in for a much longer trip. I’m looking forward to seeing where it will go.
