Most people know the “419″ scams. They are named “419″ after the section of the Nigerian penal code which addresses fraud schemes, and the majority of them are done through email. We’ve all been there. The emails are urgent and usually involve contact fraud, real estate, inheritance money, fund conversion, or even the sale of crude oil. If you’ve never been to the 419eater website, your missing some great laughs.
Today I found this:
John Boko is a 419 scammer. Initially he sent out a standard 419 scam email under a different name. I gave him my standard Derek Trotter reply:
Thank you very much for your very interesting email, however I am afraid that I will be unable to help you at this time. These next three months are by far the busiest and most profitable period for my company and I cannot give any time to anything other than finding new artwork for our galleries especially wooden carvings.
Not to be one to miss out on a possible $25,000 or $150,000 scholarship payment, John Boko made a replica of the animals from the UK TV series “Creature Comforts” and I’ll be damned if it wasn’t pretty good. But would John Boko make a Commodore 64 keyboard? Find out!
Oh yes! John Boko wanted that scholarship very, very badly. With the right bit of enticing and of course pictures sent to him for reference…he carved himself into history.
The scammer then shipped it to the UK via FedEx for a cost of about £121 (6 kilos or 13 pounds) in order to get his money. The whole matter is not quite as good as the scammer that was convinced to join the Order of the Painted Breast, but it’s still a great one.
I also recommend the Trophy Room.
Enjoy!
